AVANT GARDEN: viral art project
What is the responsibility of artists and designers in times of crisis? In the first days of the COVID-19 pandemic, hundreds of creative people from around the world created posters for the Viral Art Project, a call to action for graphic designers, artists, professionals, students, and others. The project, based in DC, raises awareness of the challenges facing all of us and promotes messages about what we have to do and how we can get through this time together. Artists included world-famous designers, children working on printer paper, and everyone in between.
Opening April 2021, Culture House will present a monumental mural in the Avant Garden of selections from the Viral Art Project. This installation will offer visitors a space to contemplate the past year of pandemic life through the lens of people doing their best to look after one another.
